Stumbled upon these Selby photos of Gina and Glenn's kitchen.   Isn't this a well-loved,  well-used airy kitchen that has all one would need to cook an amazing dinner? The whole house and grounds are gorgeous but it's the kitchen that captured my heart.  Can one ever get enough glimpses into how people truly live?!

Am very excited that the weekend has arrived and that I have zero plans. It's a rare weekend with time to sleep in, putter around the house, take my time at the library, bake something yummy (not at the library), read a novel or two and maybe try some creative photo-album-ing as seen on Dos Family this week.

Finally saw The Social Network last night and really liked the movie.  Curious how much is reality and how much was speculation about how it really happened.  My favorite scenes were the opening dialogue between the couple and the closing scene's conversation.

"I have a bunch of boxes filled with photos. For years I have been printing without doing anything with them. I think I have been aiming a bit high. I wanted them to be categorized by dates in photo albums.  With caption to every photo stating place and date with a fun fact.

So today I took a different approach on the project. I stopped thinking so much and just started. I choose the photos that I liked glued them in there and then a had Viola draw things in the book. How ever and whatever she wanted."

Sunny here: After much apartment decluttering, I have yet to go through boxes of paper and boxes of photos. DOS Family has such great timing to post this now. I have some free time this weekend and will make a fun album!

I also have a huge (heavy!) box of photo albums just sitting in my office.

Laura's Denmark Home

Laura has a home in Denmark and was interviewed for the blog, Bloesem.  I love how she spends her time: "In the summer we love to bike around and spend time near the sea or in a green park. In the winter we like to wrap up and stay indoors; we light candles and get cosy on the sofa with a cup of tea."

It's an odd day here in Wisconsin:  heavy winds pushing my car around, rain that has the car skidding on puddles, then suddenly bright, bright sunshine pushing away the dark clouds.  Currently the sky looks like a "Simpsons show" sky - so blue with fluffy clouds.  Yet we are under a tornado watch.  I say "no more work and let's all relax in our homes with movies, books, candles, tea and blankets".

What a cute kitchen with the rag rug.

Hard to believe it's Monday. I don't know where the weekend went! Some of it was swimming with family at a hotel, volunteering at a ministry that offers meals, food pantry, vision/medical/dental clinics to those in need. Was volunteering with the junior high girls and they loved every minute of it and they worked so very hard! Sunday was spent recovering from the start of the weekend.

Some pink inspiration for you this lovely Saturday morning!  Am soon off to a service project with my church girls (junior high age) and then some youth leaders and friends are coming to my place for dinner and a game night.

Zach Galifianakis often creates a fake interview show called “Between 2 Ferns.” On it, he asks celebrities really awkward questions. For instance, to Bruce Willis he said, “Which one of your kids is your favorite? I bet it’s Ashton. Do you get his tweets? Do you ever call him and say “Got your tweets, good tweeting today.” He also told Bruce, “When you were making ‘The whole ten yards,’ were you afraid it might be too good?”

Well recently, someone did the same thing to him. In this awesome video you see Zach confused at first at the horribleness of the interview and then he catches on and plays along perfectly. Because it’s on public TV they even beep out the one profanity, which is like TBS editing Sex and the City. Yahtzee! Check it out"

Nora Lill's norwegian home

Nora Lill has a clean, white home with some great ideas in it...like the kitchen above.  I would love a lower shelf as she has - for the microwave and a great big basket.

dutch apartment + new bloesem!

Jonna Klumpenaar's apartment is what I wish my apartment could be.  Realized this weekend that if there is a blank wall, I will put things against it (artwork, baskets, furniture..anything)....and if there's a bare counter or table, I will put just enough items on it to fill it from one end to the other in a line.  Guess who is hesitant to have white space in her home??? 

Not Jonna - which is what I love about this place.  Plus all the color.  That yellow (custom made!) wardrobe is gorgeous!

These photos are from a house tour on the *new* Bloesem.  The design is beautiful.  I'm loving it all - down to the little pink flower next to each comment!

 

 

home sounds good today...

Am running around today with a ton to do, but seeing this photo has me wishing I was puttering around at home, baking banana bread, reading and possibly fitting in a nap!

Am always a fan of Benita's home (at Chez Larsson) and am especially fond of this new kitchen table she bought and the pretty lamp as well.  She has been making a lot of changes during this transition time in her life from a three-person-household down to two.  I've enjoyed reading about all the changes and admiring her photography and her impeccable organization skills.

Three brothers got a bedroom re-done and requested it be orange, airplanes and not girly. I love the room, and I'm a girl.  But it's truly not a girly room.  I love the mom's attention to details.  Oh and that mom?  She has a blog...a pretty blog!

If  only I had room for this in my apartment!  Really liking the idea of three small tables positioned restaurant-style for a dinner party at home.  Plus the chalkboard wall, and the white-framed photos, the lamps, the stack of books.  Let's just say I like it all!

I don't know where she got the cups in the upper left corner of the photo (the orange, berry and green ones) but I'm in love.  Seriously. In love.  I want to marry those colors and the cups.  

Then there are these bursts of color.......along with the pretty crate, the wire basket and HELLO beautiful papers.

I can't stop staring at the image above!  Matthew Mead, in his new magazine Holiday, has some amazing images. He's helped me like blue more than ever before because of this table setting:

The magazine has recipes, crafts, and all sorts of good things.  The holidays really do start in about six or seven weeks. (maybe I need a current calendar in front of me to tell me when the holidays start.  sheesh.) Can you even believe it?!  Guess I should order his magazine. Apparently ordering now has the magazine's premiere issue arriving in November! 

By the way, it's Friday. The weekend will be a much needed, much anticipated respite from a crazy, drama-filled intense work week. Big plans include a friend's wedding and getting together with another friend to recreate a painting found on a decor blog.  If all goes well, will post photos here.  Little weekend plans include sorting linens to give some away, reading a new book, possibly seeing the movie "It's Kind of a Funny Story", and having dinner with a friend at our favorite restaurant - Stir Crazy.

Now the question is: What are you doing this weekend?

The home of Anja-Patrice Hansen is a charming little thing!  I want to pull up a chair in the living room - to play games or have some tea!  Then it would be a great afternoon to curl up in the little reading corner to read, crochet or nap! So it's Friday.  Woo hoo! Am actually on a vacation day, getting ready to go to a women's conference with my mom. Should be a fun time. This week has been crazy - including my facebook account getting "hijacked" four times.... putting in statuses that give away gift cards to Victoria's Secret and iTunes.  What the...???  Add that frustration to a long workday meeting deadlines and yeah - it's time for the weekend.
