It's Friday and I'm getting caught up - feels heavenly!
In addition to quickly taking care of a pile of filing, I also went through some old emails that I had gmail-labeled as "apartment" to find some inspiration and in the process, delete unneeded messages and links. Found this treasure from 2010...
The stunning, beautiful, simple apartment of Isabel Asha Penzlien. Isabel describes her apartment as "Less is more for me and i try to keep only things i need...my bed is on the loft above the kitchen and its comfy up there and i keep my books up there to as well as my clothes which hang from the the ceiling. i keep a very few clothes, only things i love and wear."
Have a wonderful weekend!
I'm a bit preoccupied by these some great questions about clutter and the responses Leo (Zen Habits) just posted. I love how streamlined Leo's life is and can't get enough of the blog posts he writes. You're a fan of his, right?
Am off now to clear one flat surface of items and will keep it clear!
I'm excited about doing some rearranging of furniture and adding color to my apartment. Are you doing any decorating or rearranging?
I love this apartment. The owner is great at storage solutions and created a combined library and study in the hall.

Going to a meetup organized by The Minimalists tonight. I hear they're offering free hugs!
Refreshed the blog design to be easier on the eye. What used to be in the right sidebar is now either above in the navigation bar or at the bottom of the page. Chose this minimalistic style to be easier on the eyes. Enjoy!
January is usually a great month to declutter rooms and closets, but these entryways and mudrooms are so colorfully organized that I'd like it to be January right now (minus any cold temps and snow, of course) so that I can put bins together and paint the floor purple! While I'm at it, I should practice my penmanship for I would like to write as shown on the blackboard in the fourth photo.
I have a fondness for Fisher Price little people - the ones from long ago - before they started making the people in bigger sizes. I own four of them from childhood- and have yet to run across any in thrift stores or rummage sales. I regret the yellow fisher price house with all furniture and people that was available at a thrift store in my brother Jay's town - for only $18 that I didn't bid on. (via Goodwill's online auction site)
I did, however, spend a day with the little people in my possession. Feel free to peruse that album - the captions help the photos make sense.
I'm thrilled that Oliva and Anne-Sophie of SoDeco have created a poster of the Fisher Price people and am hoping they ship to the U.S.!
Lovely images for a grey day - perfect for a warm beverage and a good book.
Did I mention it's also a perfect day for baking?!
I can tell it's the Christmas season. Much to do, little time at the computer, stacks of projects to complete. Tonight I get to help at church in a group of teens, but tomorrow night shall be set aside to work through some of the projects. May even set aside a front closet shelf for "action items" such as a baby gift to be wrapped up and sent off, a few Christmas gifts to be wrapped, and a stack of books to return to their rightful owners.
How are your projects? Do you have a lot to do or are you relaxing more this season than last?
At so-deco, a daughter requested a loft bed for her room. Her mom explained her thoughts here, "At first, I found imposing. We must rethink everything, instead of the dresser, toys ...Enjoy the space under the bed to make it a cozy little corner. Not to mention my madness for sweet vintage!!"
What a cozy room!
Have been distracted by some pretty, new-to-me blogs!
Here they are!
It's a long (four-day) weekend for me here with plans and goals of rearranging my office nook, tidying up a walk in closet, hosting a game night as a farewell for a friend moving away for six months, meeting a friend for coffee, catching up on blogs at a cute new coffeebar in town, and going for some long walks.
What will you be doing this weekend?
Happy Weekend to you!
Happy Friday to you!!
These photos are of collections. Do you collect anything?
My collections consist of a pile of Domino magazines (which I may soon sell) and a coat rack full of colorful bags.
May you have a wonderful weekend, my friends!
hello from a crazy, crazy week. lots to do and then got a notice that the apartment managers are conducting a first-ever apartment inspection today. found out two days ago. thus two evenings were spent doing tasks I'd put off...such as tidying up the walk-in closet, clearing the kitchen's counters of the little things that find their way there (however do they do that?!), and giving the carpets a much-needed steam clean. luckily there were little touches to be added - pretty little things found at ikea this weekend. (yes, I went there again before attending a seminar given by teresa tapp of t-tapp - my most favorite workouts ever.)
hope you are having a great week!
yesterday I wore a dress
under a cardigan
with a scarf.
Fooled people - they thought I was wearing a skirt.
Nope. A dress. I wear dresses year round as one of many layers.
Then I stumble on this adorable set of photos of one dress worn five ways.
Well, she's wearing the dress the same way (right side up, right side out) but accessorizing it differently each time.

I recently heard from Helena of Craft & Creativity , so I checked out her blog. Was so happy to peruse the photos she's posted! She often has a Craft of the Day and makes this not-so-crafty-girl want to do all the projects on Helena's blog!
Meanwhile, Helena has a pretty, new kitchen!
I'm also a fan of the bookshelves they built!
The weekend has been full of watching sports (baseball, football and last week's premiere of the The Amazing Race - they were sporty!), helping my mom move and celebrating a friend's birthday with a dinner out and going to see "Drive" - a Ryan Gosling movie that was well made but a bit too intense for me.
Had some time to browse some favorite French blogs and found these below.
How was your weekend?
I am in blog-love with The Image Is Found - a married couple who are amazing photographers who live and work in the most stylish of settings using simplicity and pops of color. The photos above are from their recent new-studio-opening, and the photos below are from their home.

Alanna posted the above photo on her blog, and I liked Katherine Yaphe's jeans and blue (teal?) shoes so much I had to visit her website to learn more about her. Was smitten with their site the moment I saw the kitchen with that striped rug.
From their About page:
"We love contemporary design. We like beautifully crafted objects that are made with care and speak to us emotionally.
Everything selected for this site has been chosen for just that reason – because we love it. It’s plain and simple. There’s no formula, there’s no secret. We just know in our gut when something fits.
Whether it’s our own collection of hand-made rugs or a design object scouted from a far off corner of the globe, we only offer items that we’d want to fill our own homes (or closets).
Roam around and enjoy. We’re constantly inspired and hope our selection moves you in some way as well."
