At so-deco, a daughter requested a loft bed for her room. Her mom explained her thoughts here, "At first, I found imposing. We must rethink everything, instead of the dresser, toys ...Enjoy the space under the bed to make it a cozy little corner. Not to mention my madness for sweet vintage!!"
What a cozy room!
Have been distracted by some pretty, new-to-me blogs!
Here they are!
It's a long (four-day) weekend for me here with plans and goals of rearranging my office nook, tidying up a walk in closet, hosting a game night as a farewell for a friend moving away for six months, meeting a friend for coffee, catching up on blogs at a cute new coffeebar in town, and going for some long walks.
What will you be doing this weekend?
Happy Weekend to you!
Happy Friday to you!!
These photos are of collections. Do you collect anything?
My collections consist of a pile of Domino magazines (which I may soon sell) and a coat rack full of colorful bags.
May you have a wonderful weekend, my friends!
hello from a crazy, crazy week. lots to do and then got a notice that the apartment managers are conducting a first-ever apartment inspection today. found out two days ago. thus two evenings were spent doing tasks I'd put off...such as tidying up the walk-in closet, clearing the kitchen's counters of the little things that find their way there (however do they do that?!), and giving the carpets a much-needed steam clean. luckily there were little touches to be added - pretty little things found at ikea this weekend. (yes, I went there again before attending a seminar given by teresa tapp of t-tapp - my most favorite workouts ever.)
hope you are having a great week!
yesterday I wore a dress
under a cardigan
with a scarf.
Fooled people - they thought I was wearing a skirt.
Nope. A dress. I wear dresses year round as one of many layers.
Then I stumble on this adorable set of photos of one dress worn five ways.
Well, she's wearing the dress the same way (right side up, right side out) but accessorizing it differently each time.

I recently heard from Helena of Craft & Creativity , so I checked out her blog. Was so happy to peruse the photos she's posted! She often has a Craft of the Day and makes this not-so-crafty-girl want to do all the projects on Helena's blog!
Meanwhile, Helena has a pretty, new kitchen!
I'm also a fan of the bookshelves they built!
The weekend has been full of watching sports (baseball, football and last week's premiere of the The Amazing Race - they were sporty!), helping my mom move and celebrating a friend's birthday with a dinner out and going to see "Drive" - a Ryan Gosling movie that was well made but a bit too intense for me.
Had some time to browse some favorite French blogs and found these below.
How was your weekend?
I am in blog-love with The Image Is Found - a married couple who are amazing photographers who live and work in the most stylish of settings using simplicity and pops of color. The photos above are from their recent new-studio-opening, and the photos below are from their home.

Alanna posted the above photo on her blog, and I liked Katherine Yaphe's jeans and blue (teal?) shoes so much I had to visit her website to learn more about her. Was smitten with their site the moment I saw the kitchen with that striped rug.
From their About page:
"We love contemporary design. We like beautifully crafted objects that are made with care and speak to us emotionally.
Everything selected for this site has been chosen for just that reason – because we love it. It’s plain and simple. There’s no formula, there’s no secret. We just know in our gut when something fits.
Whether it’s our own collection of hand-made rugs or a design object scouted from a far off corner of the globe, we only offer items that we’d want to fill our own homes (or closets).
Roam around and enjoy. We’re constantly inspired and hope our selection moves you in some way as well."
I normally wear lots of black, gray and berry colors....but seeing this collage of winter wardrobe options has me listing Navy! Denim! White! on my clothing-to-buy list.
PS: Annie has a blog if you're interested. I love her post on "home" where she talks about why she likes to be at home, her fondness for pretty things, and collects vintage items to fit into her decor at home.
Am a huge fan of Living, etc. magazine and occasionally splurge on an issue when I find one at barnes & noble (the only store for miles and miles that carries it in my state)... and their home idea website is cute and clever.
These photos are from their post on decorating a rental. My next decorating goal is to get some cute wallpaper to put over plywood and lean it somewhere against a wall - then I can take it with me when I move (since I wouldn't take a wall-covered-with-wallpaper with me - it's a win win!). Saw the idea awhile ago in an Apartment Therapy post once and found it pretty and so very doable.

hmmmm...wasn't much of a white frame fan until I saw this photo.
now? bring it on. I want white frames everywhere!
currently enjoying these blogs:
Friday will be here shortly. Have a happy weekend!
Hello! Hoping you can help me out. I'm looking for two things: books and blogs.
What are the funniest/cutest/prettiest/most authentic blogs you read? Which are your favorite blogs?
What book are you reading right now?
I was in the office kitchen the other day while reading a book about a girl in New England that took an unexpected sad turn - and I had tears running down my face. A coworker walked in and looked at me funny. I just said "Sad" and pointed the book, and he replied "...and THAT'S why I DON'T read."
What a fun weekend! Got caught up with a friend who was working in Chicago all summer with a children's urban ministry then saw Crazy Stupid Love (found it slow in the beginning but when it sped up halfway through, it became very funny). Today was a crazy, hectic birthday party for my nephew Shawn's eighth birthday. Today is also my brother Jay's birthday so happy birthday, Little Brother!
Loving the bedroom nook below that looks quite cozy.
Have caught a summer cold that is racing around town. Have had to stay home but it's given me a day of rest, reading, and naps. Tomorrow it's back to normal!
A ray of sunshine came out over the weekend, and I galloped after it with my camera, snapping our recently revamped cushion selection on the sofa.
Sofa cushions L-R: Vintage fabric cushion from Nice Work; tapestry cushion by me; vintage orange cushion by Absoluut (shop closed); vintage Mary White fabric cover by 35 Flowers; another one by Absoluut.
Gorgeous cushions that make me want to pile ten more onto my couch!
Enjoy these wedding photos by davidone of a French couple who wanted a wedding with a circus theme. It's done so chicly I wouldn't be surprised if more couples chose a circus theme for their weddings! If the photos here don't provide enough of a glimpse, all the photos can be found on davidone's site.
