farewells The family has departed and is now in Missouri. 100 degrees with 100% humidity. But their New Adventure has begun. The Little Niece, age two and a half, chose last night to follow me around, take me by the hand and say, "We're going to YOUR house? Let's go to YOUR house. Your HOUSE!" not getting the concept that while she's moving to "midduree" and getting her own room (arms up in the air, one jump and a big YAY!), her auntie and grandma won't be moving there too. I did have to laugh. She took me to the lower level of the home where her parents had created quite the cozy apartment for the family, and she sat on the stairs, gazing at the empty rooms, and stated matter of factly, "Well, it's all packed up!" Packed up indeed.
treasures After they left for dinner and the farewells were said, I explored the boxes that were found in the attic and found some treasures: family films on reels, photos and some fun documents like passports from 1970 (check out that adorable little girl) (wait a minute..check out mom's hair!) and of course, books dating back to 1898 including a collection of Bobbsey Twin books.
Now I have the go-to book (circa 1970) for makeup, hair, shopping, partying, and "to use your own knack. you have it - it's there!). Hey - I thought I was the first to use all lowercase. Guess this happenin' book beat me too it!
My guess is that I will be sharing more of these "treasures" with you for months. Aren't you thrilled?
middle names Now, I've been tagged by MomLady with a middle name meme. Here goes. My middle name is Ann. And to make things confusing, I go by my first and middle name, and when asked what my middle name is..."Ann"..people usually say my name then add another Ann to it to make it sound like quite the, uh, interesting name. When I spell my name to someone in person or over the phone, I get flack from friends for saying "space A-N-N" to show the space between the first and middle name.
